Butter London Henley Regatta Swatches and Review

After a super long hiatus, I’m finally back! Today I will be reviewing a polish that is a little high-end – Butter London’s Henley Regatta. I got this quite some time ago and totally forgot about it until now.

555 IMG_3449 Henley Regatta is a fusion of emerald green and teal glitter in clear base polish. The formula for this one was great, although three coats are needed for opacity. Here I applied three coats with no top coat. You can definitely use this for layering over darker colors. The teal glitter isn’t very noticeable, although when combined with the green, gives off beautiful sparkles.

IMG_3466IMG_3463 The color is super vibrant and bold. I think this would look striking against pale skin! I also love how the color varies in intensity depending on the light. Under yellow light it looks a little matte, but outside it sparkles like a disco ball *heart eyes emoji*. I’m impressed with the dry time too. I only applied this color on one hand first, starting from the pinky to the thumb (sometimes I go in reverse order). It dries quickly to the point that I could start on my second coat on the pinky right away after I’m done with the thumb. So a thumbs up to Butter London for that! Onto some pic spam:

IMG_3455IMG_3451IMG_3458IMG_3460IMG_3461IMG_3459IMG_3453The color really does remind me of Essence Choose Me!, but I definitely prefer this one more. I don’t wear a lot of green but I do think this is definitely a wearable color.

I apologize for the lack of updates. Been so busy with school lately. But I promise I’ll keep updating as much as I can *bows* ขอโทษที่ไม่ได้เข้ามาอัพเดทเลยค่ะ ช่วงนี้ยุ่งอยู่กับการเรียน แต่สัญญาว่าจะพยายามเข้ามาอัพเดทเท่าที่สามารถทำได้ค่ะ *โค้ง*

While I was gone I did paint my nails and id a few nail arts, but I wasn’t able to take good quality images using my EOS camera. Sorry about the bad quality.

Essie Pop Art Pink Swatches and Review

In today’s post I have for you guys Essie’s Pop Art Pink from Essie’s Spring Collection in 2010. My mom chose this color for me, so this polish is quite special. The first time I used it, I really hated this color.  But I’m going to be gone from February 4 to 8th to Khao Lak for a school residential trip (that means no changing polish for 4 days!) and wanted a natural looking shade to wear, so I decided to give this polish another try. I rarely wear pink except for natural looking jelly/sheer ones, but this is one of my favorites. IMG_2506 With one coat the color comes off as a natural looking jelly polish. With two or three coats, it turns to a milky-pink jelly color. The formula for this is okay. To apply it well with thin coats, you have to be quick because the polish drys very fast. With thick coats it works well just like regular polish. There are also some bubbling that occurred during dry time. The polish dries glossy, so I decided not to apply any topcoat. Here I have on two coats. After taking photos of these swatches I decided to add topcoat to the nails that had bubbles, and the bubbles disappeared. Weird, huh? Also, my pointy finger nail broke again, sorry. Please ignore it! IMG_2505

IMG_2508

IMG_2507

IMG_2511 IMG_2509 IMG_2510 Overall, I really like this color! It’s pretty versatile too. You can wear it with one coat for a natural look, or two or three coats for it to be opaque. I think this polish is super girly and fun. What do you think?

Sally Hansen Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips – 240 Check It Out Review

Hi guys! Long time no post! It’s been a month! The reason why I haven’t been posting is because I’ve been really busy lately. Plus, one of my nails also broke, and I can’t be bothered to fix it so I was away from swatching for a while — but now I’m back!

Today I will be reviewing Sally Hansen’s Salon Effects Real Nail Polish strips in Check It Out number 240. This is one of the goodies I bought from my trip to America (Btw I hope to go there again soon, I loved everything there!).

At first I didn’t really want to post this review because the photo quality isn’t that decent. I took these photos at around 7pm with room light. But there aren’t many reviews for this product and I miss posting here, so I hope you don’t mind. I’m also trying to improve how I add credits on my photos… so please bear with me.

IMG_2500

The kit includes the following:

  • 16 Nail Polish Strips
  • Cuticle Stick
  • Mini File and Buffer
  • Detailed instructions of how to apply/use the product

IMG_2501

This is my very first time with nail stickers/nail polish strips. I followed the instructions inside the package and this is what it turned out like:

IMG_2486

Please note that these photos were taken after three days of wear. As you can see, there aren’t any major chips except around the cuticle and the nail’s free edge.

IMG_2487

Application was relatively easy. As instructed in the instruction sheet, the first step into applying the strips is pushing your cuticles using the cuticle stick given in the kit. After that, we have to buff and smooth out the surface of your nail using the buffer (also included in the kit. I did not do this step btw). Then, to apply, select the best-fitting strip for each nail, then you have to peel the strip to remove its clear protective plastic cover and it’s backing paper. Place it above your nail plate and press it down using your fingers. After that remove excess nail strips by gently filing the free edge of the nail.

What I found a bit challenging in the process of applying this that the strips can stretch. The strips are also very sticky, therefore if you make mistakes and decide to pull it from the nail plate and re-apply, the strips can over-stretch. There are 16 strips given in the kit and I think they’ve done a really good job in making sure it will fit with all nail sizes. The instructions did not mention about topcoat, but I did apply a layer of Sally Hansen’s Advanced Hard as Nails Strengthening Top Coat over the strips. I later read on a forum post that we’re supposed to wait an hour before applying any topcoat, I don’t know for sure whether this is true, but what I did turned out just fine!
IMG_2494IMG_2488IMG_2498

Overall I really liked how this mani turned out! The pattern is super eye-catching and I received lots of compliments from my friends. If I had a chance I would definitely repurchase these nail strips, and would like to try other patterns as well.
IMG_2493

* * * * * * * *

Some of you may want to know about the removal process. It is instructed in the kit to use nail polish remover to remove the strips. When I removed it, I was quite surprised that it removed in tiny bits:

L.A. Color’s Art Deco Copper Glitter Swatches and Review

At my school, every student is separated into 4 houses: Hanuman, Erawan, Tosakan and Naga (similar to Harry Potter, haha!). I’m in Hanuman. Next Thursday is my school’s annual Sports Day event, and the color for Hanuman is orange. Because of that, to show spirit I decided to paint my nails orange!

Originally I decided to go with Zoya’s Lianne, which applied on really smooth and nicely, but the Seche Vite ruined the mani with the pull. Other orange polishes I currently own are: OPI’s In My Back Pocket, Skinfood PK205 and China Glaze Peachy Keen. I didn’t like any of those three, and thats when I noticed Copper Glitter.

Image

Copper Glitter is a striper by L.A. Colors. (Yes, another mani using stripers — I think I might be a little bit obsessed!) Copper Glitter is a orange and copper glitter in a clear base polish.
Image

Application was easy . This polish dried smooth and matte. Here I applied two coats of Copper Glitter and one coat of Seche Vite Dry Fast topcoat for shine. They were super sparkly when it hit the lights and even with indoor lights! I can’t stop looking at my nails.

And heres a pic spam of the polish for you:

OPI’s Tomorrow Never Dies Swatches and Review

Hello! Today I have for you guys swatches of OPI’s Tomorrow Never Dies from OPI’s Holiday 2012 collection Skyfall. I decided to cut my nails on my left hand short because I started to think it was weird having nails on my left hand longer than the right hand. Haha.

Image

Tomorrow Never Dies is a metallic dark blue-purple with blue and pink shimmers. The blue and pink shimmers are barely visible even with flash, but can be seen in the bottle. This polish can appear dark blue or purple depending on the light, which I absolutely LOVE!

I was glad I ordered this polish and have this in my stash. I was reluctant about ordering this polish at first but after reading WorkPlayPolish‘s post and a few other posts out there, I decided to order this. I think I’ve also discovered my love for metallic polish.

Below are bottle shots to show you the beautiful shimmers. It also shows how the color of the polish appears depending on the light.

Image With Flash

ImageImage

Here I applied 2 coats with a layer of Seche Vite topcoat. I ran out of my Essie Good to Go and found Seche Vite in the store, so I decided to try Seche out. The polish was a bit runny and needs at least 2 coats to be opaque. Dry time was fast.

Stripers as Polish… Again – L.A. Color’s Art Deco Metallic Pink

Hi there! Today I present you one of my favorites – Art Deco’s Metallic Pink!

Yes, its a striper, but who cares? It works well just like other normal polishes!

Metallic pink is pretty self explanatory… its a metallic pink color with gold/silver shimmers. Here I applied two coats with a layer of Essie Good to Go topcoat. They were super shiny! I rarely wear pink on my nails, but this was an exception!

I really, really love how this turned out! I didn’t expect this at all when I looked at the bottle. The dry time was fast and the polish was very easy to apply.

Sorry for the no bottle shot. I pre-ordered this, and when it came in the mail one of the polish that comes with it broke, causing the bottle to be smeared with polish. I tried to remove the polish from the bottle but that caused the labels to come off as well. 😦

Essence Choose Me! Swatches and Review

Image

Today I have for you guys Essence’s Choose Me! I was given this through a nail mail swap from one of my nail mail buddy from Ireland.

Image

Choose Me! contains silver and gold flecks within a blue-green sheer base. Indoors its a green color, but in sunlight it appears a bit blue. The formula was easy to apply and dry time was fast. I love the sparkle and the brush in my opinion, is easy to use.

Image

Image

With Flash

This is my first time with Essence nail polish, and I am overall very impressed, both by the color and the bottle. I love how the bottle is small, but not too small. A downside to this polish though, is that they do stain your nails a tiny bit of green. However the stain can be removed with nail polish remover. I will definitely check out more of Essence’s polishes soon!

BONi M122 over OPI Black Onyx Swatches and Review

Image

Hi guys! Yesterday I was bored and wanted to paint my nails. Yesterday I also received my very first nail mail package all the way from Germany, I’ll make a post about that later. My nail mail buddy was really nice and sent me a really pretty bottle of Essence nail art special effects topper. I don’t know which polish to choose so I painted my nails black using OPI Onyx, and because of that Essence special effects topper, I decided I want to add a layer of glitter polish over it. I decided to go with BONi M122:ImageImageImageImageImage

With Flash

ImageFor this mani, I applied 2 layers of OPI Onyx, then 2 layers of BONi M122. I didn’t add topcoat because I was afraid it will be too thick.

I love this combo! It reminds me a bit of Deborah Lippmann’s Happy Birthday, however I don’t think its a dupe. The BONi M122 polish has larger glitters and more color compared to DL’s Happy Birthday. BONi M122 has light blue, green, pink, red and yellow glitter, with small red, yellow, pink and green circle-shaped glitters in clear base. Deborah Lippmann’s Happy Birthday does not have light blue, yellow or pink glitters. You can clearly see this in the macro shot of the BONi M122 bottle below:

Image

The BONi M122 polish applied nicely, but just like many other glitter polishes, I had to push the glitter around with the brush in order to have a overall coverage on the nail plate. The glitter didn’t dry very smooth though. I believe this is a polish from Korea… one of my favorites!

OPI Ski Teal We Drop Swatches and Review

When it comes to my choice of color for nail polish, I don’t usually wear dark colors, especially dark plums, reds, browns, etc. I don’t think it fits well with my skin color. However, a couple of days ago I literally have no idea which color to paint my nails, and I went for OPI’s Ski Teal We Drop:

ImageImageImageImage

With Flash

Image

Here I have applied 2 coats with a coat of Essie Good to Go topcoat. I really don’t know how to explain this color in words. The name suggest that its a teal color, but personally I think its a dark teal color, almost dark blue when it hits the lights. It looks navy/dark blue to almost black in the shade/indoors. The polish applied very nicely, no bubbling, and dry time was average.

I think I pretty much fell in love with this color. One of my favorites for sure! I just couldn’t stop staring at my nails. Yesterday I went outside for a family dinner, my mom saw my nails and she complimented its color. She never does that, so that means something.

As I’m writing this post, its October 31st, which is Halloween. Happy Halloween everyone! (:

Stripers as Nail Polish?!

On my last post I said I will swatch Butter London Dodgy Barnett and AllThatGlitter Spottie Dottie Dark and Light and review them. I did swatch them on my nails, but didn’t get a chance to take photos or write an entry about them yet, I’m sorry. I will try to do that soon.

About a week ago I received my nail polish + L.A. Colors stripers order. Yesterday I was playing around, and I saw how pretty the glitters in a few stripers look. So yes, I decided to paint them as nail polish on my nails. I mean, we can right? Stripers are technically nail polish, just the brush is different. Right right? Or am I wrong?

Here is how they turned out:

With Flash

With Flash

Here I have painted two coats of NA945 Purple/Blue Glitter on my ring, pointy and thumb finger, and NA938 Orchid Glitter on my pinky and middle finger. All are painted over 1-2 coats of China Glaze Grape Pop, with a layer of Essie Good to Go topcoat.

Personally I loved how they turned out! And purple is my favorite color as well. They were super sparkly and fun!

Here are shots of the brush. I have to say I was impressed with how easy they applied. I have to say though, that not every brush is perfect. I’ve had some stripers with loose strands. But overall, they are very nice and I would definitely repurchase them it they run out.

Today in the mail I also received my VISA to America!!!!!! I will be going to America from 28th December – 6th January with my mother and brother. I am super excited for this trip, and am looking forward to buying lots and lots of polishes! Super sad though that the Euro Centrale Collection and Mariah Carey Collection will be released after my trip. That means I have to pre-order/order them online. I’m really looking forward to Polka.com.

Colorful Stripes & Stars Nails

As you can probably tell, I am very bad at coming up with names. I really don’t know what to call this design… I did these about a month ago. Saw this design from Nail Max! magazine. I really like how it turned out!

Since I couldn’t get a good photo for my entire hand, heres a picture of my thumb:

Sorry about the dry cuticles and the growth. 😦 I took this photo around 4-5 days after I painted them, and my nails grow super fast so theres a bit of growth when I took the photos. I used a brush and acrylic paint to paint the stars and stripes.

My nail polish order (Butter London Dodgy Barnett, All That Glitters Spottie Dottie Black and White) just arrived today too. When I have the mood (probably Thursday), I will probably post more swatches. 🙂

Essie Lapiz of Luxury Swatches and Review

I’ve been wanting to try Essie polishes since forever, and when I had a chance to pre-order polishes I decided to give it a try. I searched online for the best Essie polish color out there, and many websites recommended  Lapis of Luxury.

(Lapis of Luxury – 2-3 coats/

Lapiz of Luxury is a creme ocean blue color. I took these photos nearly 2 months ago, so I’m not exactly sure how many coats I did or whether I added topcoat. I remember very well though that this polish was super easy to remove. It dries glossy, no topcoat needed. The brush isn’t hard to work with at all despite its small size. Overall, I really like this polish and will definitely check out more Essie colors. I am quite interested in Mojito Madness right now.

You can find more about this polish on their website here.

China Glaze Up & Away Spring 2010, Electropop Spring 2012 Collection Swatches and Review – Something Sweet and Aquadelic

Today I will be reviewing two pale/pastel China Glaze polishes: Something Sweet and Aquadelic. Something Sweet is from the Up & Away Spring 2010 collection and the Aquadelic is from the Electropop  Spring 2012 collection!

(Something Sweet – 2 coats, no topcoat)

(Something Sweet –

Something Sweet is a pale pastel pink creme. Dries glossy, no topcoat needed. Dry time is fast. It reminds me of  Topshop’s Nails in Milkshake my friend Khing likes to wear.

(Aquadelic – 2 coats, no topcoat)

A green turquoise color. Dries glossy and fast. My first turquoise color in my stash. I am very satisfied with how pigmented this polish is. This is actually my first China Glaze polish I’ve ever tried. My first time trying it, I find the formula very thick and hard to apply. The brush was also weird to me because I’m used to harder brushes like OPI. But my second time applying it (which is the one in the swatch photos), I found it super easy to apply. I guess it’s because I wasn’t used to the polish. If you apply it confidently, I’m sure you’ll have no problem applying it.

Orange Glitter Gradient Tip Nails with 3D Acrylic Flowers

Done in August 25th 2010. Again with friend Song. This was my very first manicure where I had 3D acrylic sculpted on my nails. I didn’t do acrylic extensions so they stained my nails afterwards. My pinky nail is very long, I was having that phase where I was trying to see how long my pinky nail could grow. I eventually cut them though.

I’ve noticed I’ve been posting many photos of my nails from the past that has been done by the salon a lot lately. This is because I don’t have good quality photos of nail art I’ve done myself in the past. I do go to the salon every once in a while because my mom goes there to get her manipedis.

China Glaze Summer Neons 2012 Collection Swatches and Review – Splish Splash, Love’s a Beach, Beach Cruise-r, Sun-kissed

(From left to right: Splish Splash, Love’s a Beach, Beach Cruise-r and Sun-kissed)

(จากขวาไปซ้าย: Splish Splash, Love’s a Beach, Beach Cruise-r และ Sun-kissed)

Ahhh I’m so excited for this post as this will be my very first swatch! I just got my camera, so I can now finally take better quality photos. Even better, my nail polish order also arrived in the mail. Today I will be reviewing 4 polishes from China Glaze’s Summer Neons 2012 collection. The names of the polishes I will be reviewing are: Splish Splash, Love’s a Beach, Beach Cruise-r and Sun-kissed.

(Splish Splash – 2 coats with a layer of Essie Good to Go topcoat)

(Splish Splash – ทา 2 รอบตามด้วยท็อปโค้ท Essie Good to Go หนึ่งรอบ)

First is Splish Splash. My camera couldn’t really capture how beautiful and bright this color actually is once on the nail. Its actually a bright blue color (please refer to my bottle photo to see how the color is actually like). My absolute favorite. I’ve been trying to find a blue polish that isn’t too light like a baby sky color, and not too dark, something in between. This was the one. In the polish, there are blue and (if I’m not mistaken) silver micro-shimmers. I was really surprised to know that the polishes in this collection dries matte. I did not expect that at all! I started swatching this color and added topcoat because I thought the polish was supposed to dry glossy. When I tried out the next color though, I realized that this collection is supposed to be matte. Photos after this will have no topcoat.

(Love’s a Beach2 coats, no topcoat)

(Love’s a Beach

Love’s a Beach. A bright hot pink/fuchsia color with pink and silver micro-shimmer. Super bright. Opaque in two coats.

Love’s a Beach

(Beach Cruise-r – 2 coats, no topcoat)

A bright pink-purplish color, with purple and silver micro-shimmer. I really like the tone of this color, especially because purple is my favorite color.

(Sun-kissed – 2 coats, no topcoat)

Sun-kissed is a very bright yellow highlighter color with warm gold and lime green micro-shimmer. If you look closely though, it is not completely bright yellow but more of a lime green color.  This color was sooo bright it makes my hand a bit darker on camera. I had difficulty capturing a good photo of this. This is also one of my favorites, but I feel that I won’t be wearing this as much as Splish Splash, because they are such a attention grabber.

Overall:

I have to say I really like the polishes from this collection. This is my very first China Glaze order, and I am very impressed with the formula and colors of these polishes. Splish Splash is a everyday wearable color. As mentioned earlier, some of the colors I think I won’t be wearing as often because they are so bright. I will definitely be using them for nail designs and tutorials though. All polishes dry fast and removal was relatively easy. The formula wasn’t thick. If you have a good amount on your brush, it should not be very difficult to apply. The only thing I don’t like about these polishes is that when you remove them, some polishes stain around your cuticle. They can be easily removed with polish remover though. Despite that, I will definitely be repurchasing more China Glaze polishes in the future.

Also, sorry if the lighting isn’t consistent throughout all the swatch photos. I just got my camera and I’m still learning about lighting and different ISO settings and such. I also didn’t use a tripod to take these photos, and the camera is quiet heavy. If you have any tips and tricks, please let me know!

Purple and Blue Star Nails ★☆

I really don’t know what to call this nail art design. I got these done at Take Care nail salon with my friend Song back in October 23rd 2010. My nails were quite long then. When I think back to when I was getting them done, I remember myself taking a very long time choosing a design I want to get done from a Japanese magazine. The shop owner even walked up to me and asked me to choose quickly, because they also have other customers to take care of. I also ended up wearing this design to Japan too.

Pink and Blue Ombre/Gradient Nails

Here are pink and blue ombre/gradient nails I’ve done a while back. Make up sponges were used to blend the colors together. This is my first time doing a ombre/gradient design with two colors.

Sparkly Galaxy Nails!

Thought I’d post one of my favorite nail design I’ve ever done. I did this 14 weeks ago, so around May. I love the sparkle and how the colors blend in together! Every finger is different, too.

What do you think?

My First Entry – Plaid & Ants Nails

Yesterday my mom decided to go to the nail salon so I decided to tag along. Before that I had quiet a few nail designs saved on my phone. At the salon I decided to go with a design of red plaid prints as the background with black ants. I thought it was a unique design and I haven’t seen one like that before. However I decided to change the red plaid to blue plaid nails instead because red never looks good with my skin color. Here is a photo:

(If you are the owner of this design, please let me know, so I can properly credit you. I can’t remember where I got my original photo from.)

Sorry about the photo quality. I will get a new camera very soon, that photo was taken with my iPhone. Other than that, I also recently ordered a bunch of O.P.I., China Glaze and Essie nail polishes that should be arriving at my house by next week. Hopefully by then I could make a few swatch reviews. I am also planning to order L.A. Color polish stripers and I am also trying to find a place where I can get some glitter polishes from Essence. But that would take some time because they are so hard to find here! 😦
